RMS of Ohio has officially launched RISE Remote Support, a person-directed service powered by GrandCare technology.

RISE combines assistive technology with trained RMS Remote Support Professionals, allowing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to receive real-time support while enjoying greater privacy and independence at home.

More Than Monitoring

RISE is not simply a collection of sensors and alerts. The technology provides personalized reminders, schedules, two-way communication, safety alerts and connections to remote staff. RMS professionals then provide the human response—offering reassurance, coaching, problem-solving and assistance based on each person’s needs and Individual Service Plan.

This approach supports more than physical safety. Remote professionals can help individuals manage routines, work through anxiety, make decisions, build skills and stay socially connected. As RMS describes it, RISE offers “independence without isolation.”

Traditional care places a DSP physically in the home, which is essential when someone needs hands-on personal care, mobility assistance, medical support or behavioral intervention.

Remote supports is ideal when an individual needs reminders, encouragement, routine coaching, safety oversight or occasional assistance that does not require someone to be physically present.

For many people, the best solution is a hybrid model: in-person DSPs provide hands-on support when needed, while RISE provides remote coaching, connection and responsive assistance at other times.

This model can help:
